What is the Natural Health Research Institute?

Today on The Fruitful Life, we wanted to shine a spotlight on an organization that you may have heard of from time to time if you shop at any of our in-store locations. The organization in question is the Natural Health Research Institute or NHRI for short!

What is the NHRI?

The Natural Health Research Institute is a non-profit that was founded in 2008 by Elwood Richard. Elwood was a deeply caring and passionate natural products industry leader committed to providing value in products and services that empower people to lead healthier lives. The goal of the NHRI is to inform consumers, scientists, the media, policymakers, and legislators about scientific evidence on the usefulness and cost-effectiveness of diet, supplements, and a healthy lifestyle to improve health and wellness. In 2024, they welcomed Yalda Shokooh, PharmD, PhD as the new Executive Director of Natural Health Research Institute.

What does the NHRI post?

The NHRI website features over 3,000 lifechanging, illness remediating, and longevity boosting articles summarizing gold-standard natural health research findings. Articles are written and reviewed by their writing staff focused on fields of science, medicine, and nutrition. They also feature entire sections dedicated to categories like amino acids, probiotics, and vitamins for those looking to learn more about one specific area of health. With decades of research covering 21 health topics, they are confident that you will find something to answer your health questions!

Furthermore, the NHRI is an active contributor and sponsor to various health-related conferences, such as the American College of Nutrition’s Annual Conference. They also host or participate in webinars; one of the latest webinars that they participated in focused on The Power of Thoughts and Health presented by Dr. Patrick Massey, MD, PhD, MhD. The webinar video is made available to the public on the NHRI Youtube page.

Every month the NHRI releases a topic-themed newsletter focused on relevant health information, with some of the latest topics being physical activity, mental health, and glycemic control. The newsletter is available at no-cost to anyone interested and can be emailed to you monthly on their website.
