GENERAL MANAGER

SUMMARY:
Directs general operation of the retail store division and provides strategic leadership by working with management to establish long-term goals, strategies, plans and policies by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, develops, organizes, implements and evaluates the division’s fiscal function and operational performance.  Develops effective solutions to business challenges.  Analyzes and improves profitability of retail stores, coordinating selling prices, hours of operation, man hours worked, etc.  Works with managers to increase sales profitability, set store budgets and control costs.  Monitors actual performance vs. budget.   Assures fiscal guidelines are followed by all employees (including theft prevention, inventory control, etc.). Provides financial approval up to set limit, and obtains other approval where necessary. Assures Pay-for-Performance is properly administered. Develops, communicates and implements effective growth strategies and processes.  Participates in the development of the company’s plans and programs as a strategic partner.  Maintains a current project list of all significant efforts planned and in process. Identifies significant cost saving opportunities (warehousing, repackaging, more effective purchasing of products/ consumables/ services, etc.). Coordinates, develops and improves design, layout and repair of retail stores.  Oversees store layout and merchandising plans for new and existing stores.  Seeks out new store locations and is involved in negotiating leases for stores. Evaluates markets and specific stores for acquisition possibilities. Coordinates orderly sale, move or closure of stores, where necessary. Provides recommendations and develops retail strategy and provides reports on implementation of the retail strategic plan.  Monitors the competition and implements or makes recommendations for changes within the Fruitful Yield.  Studies long-range trends and projects for future growth in overall sales and marketing share. Motivates and leads a high performance team.  Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company. Maintains effective communications from and to all employees. Documents all policy changes and significant decisions. Develops and executes marketing plans.  Develops Direct Sales (Catalog and Internet). Oversees and directs new product selection, vendor negotiations and merchandising operations (including EDLP program) of retail stores.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent; and four to ten years related management experience and/or training in the natural food industry.


DISTRICT MANAGER

Successful leader who drives sales and customer satisfaction within the assigned district.   Full accountability for approximately six stores and responsibility for financial results, while working to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and applicable laws.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Through store visits and remote management, works with the store teams to consistently produce excellent customer experiences through excellent customer service, adequate inventory, cleanliness, merchandising and team atmosphere. Ensures the operational, financial and customer service performance of stores meets the company’s quality standards and that the company’s core values and mission are exemplified in all store operations and customer interactions. Provides strategic leadership, planning, and execution of solutions for current and future business needs.   Implements annual strategic plan for stores.  Collaborates with the team to grow targets for service and sales. Develops and implements sales strategies to increase sales. Holds profit and loss responsibility for the stores while ensuring consistent policy and procedure compliance.  Communicates business and financial objectives to store management teams.  Maximizes sales and effectively manages costs, labor, and inventory.  Audits store performance; manages and monitors goals and performance for stores; and communicates results to senior leadership.   Effectively manages budgets. Ensures the safety and security of company assets, customers and employees through regular store visits, audits and training.  Ensures that adequate security exists and that physical facilities comply with safety, environmental and all other codes and ordinances. Trains (i.e. POS, customer service, product, sales), manages, mentors and motivates store management teams. Takes an active role in the recruitment and retention of the store teams. Participates in determining the right product assortment to drive sales. Assists with new store and remodel projects. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and five years of related managing retail stores with multiple store experience.  Management experience in the natural food industry strongly preferred.
