Popcorn Toppers

Popcorn Toppers

National Popcorn Day is just around the corner, but we think this snack is a healthy and tasty treat any time of year! In honor of the occasion, we have compiled a list of our favorite popcorn condiments and toppings. Craft your own combo and celebrate this day with a fun snack!

1) Get popping!

Start with organic, non-GMO popping corn and prepare according to package directions. We love popping our kernels with NOW® Organic Virgin Coconut Oil or Coconut Infusions™ Butter-flavored Coconut Oil (both are dairy-free!). If you're under a time crunch, Angie's Boom Chicka Pop® pre-popped corn is a delicious option. It's also non-GMO and gluten-free!

2) Drizzle on flavor.

Instead of drenching your fluffy kernels in butter or artificially-flavored oil, choose a drizzle that's healthier and tastier. Lemon-flavored fish oil adds fresh flavor and omega-3 nutrition (don't knock it until you try it!). For zestier flavor, Bragg® Liquid Aminos is a non-GMO alternative to traditional soy sauce and packs nutrition with naturally occurring amino acids.

3) Sprinkle some toppings.

Now for the fun part! Popcorn topping options are seemingly endless, so get creative when crafting your perfect flavor combination. Go simple with Redmond Real Salt®, Bragg® Nutritional Yeast Seasoning, or Bragg® Organic Sprinkle with 24 Herbs & Spices. For extra texture and crunch, toss your popcorn with toasted hemp seed hearts or roasted almonds or cashews. For a sweet treat, mix in some Unreal Milk Chocolate Gems (or Organic Raw Cacao Nibs for a naturally sugar-free cocoa kick).

I have a few family members (kids and teens and one adult) severely allergic to milk/dairy products and oils, among many other foods.

When we make popcorn for them usually we just use a food safe vinegar or even lemon or lime juice and some spices such ask paprika, ancho chile, etc.

Those are delicious ideas, Renee! We always love learning about dairy-free options since this is a common allergen for many. Thank-you for sharing!
