DIY Hand Cleanser

DIY Hand Cleanser
Flu season is in full swing, and as usual, we've found ourselves clinging onto our hand sanitizer for dear life.*
According to the CDC: "Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can quickly reduce the number of microbes on hands in some situations, but... do not eliminate all types of germs. Hand sanitizers may not be as effective when hands are visibly dirty or greasy. Hand sanitizers might not remove harmful chemicals, like pesticides and heavy metals, from hands. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol."
They continue, "When using hand sanitizer, apply the product to the palm of one hand (read the label to learn the correct amount) and rub the product all over the surfaces of your hands until your hands are dry. Swallowing alcohol-based hand sanitizers can cause alcohol poisoning."
In other words, this hand cleanser does not substitute a good ole fashioned hand washing! Get scrubbing, but we hope you like this recipe to hold you over until you can get to a sink.

1/2 cup 99% isopropyl alcohol
1/4 cup Jason Soothing Aloe Vera Gel or NOW Pure Vegetable Glycerin
**5 drops of your favorite essential oil (We love lavender, peppermint, grapefruit, or tangerine essential oils!)
Spray bottle

1. Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl, being careful to not inhale any of the chemicals.
2. Carefully pour or funnel into a spray bottle.
3. Close bottle and take with you to use on-the-go, when you do not have access to a sink.
4. Spray enough into palms to wet whole hands completely, and massage into hands until product dries.
