Hit the Dunes

Hitting the beach in general can be great for your stress levels, your sunshine/vitamin D intake, and for exercise. For those interested in aerobic exercise, get up for an early morning or early evening stretch and beach jog. We especially love a lake swim to stay cool in even the hottest parts of the day. Just make sure you bring some lake-friendly natural sunscreen to protect your skin, and the fishes!

For somewhere unique and beautiful, we love Warren Dunes State Park in Michigan. Just one and a half hours from downtown Chicago, the Warren Dunes are a beautiful way to enjoy Lake Michigan -- without the hustle and bustle of Chicago beaches, or view of the nuclear power plant you'd see at the Indiana Dunes. Plus, climbing the sandy dunes provides a unique opportunity for exercise... and romantic star gazing.

Juice & Jam Elmhurst

Chelusier (pictured), Tonic Freight Train, and Scottie Long will play the event.

We heart local! Join us at Fruitful Yield Elmhurst, August 17th (1 pm-5pm) for an afternoon of healthy food and drink samples, a cooking demo by Soul Vegan, and live local musicians. Come for all this entertainment and more! Local gyms will be there too, so it's a great place to go if you want to see all of your options for getting fit on the regular. See our current events calendar for more information.

Climbing Trips

Interested in rock climbing, but ready to kick it to the next level? For Fruitful Yield go-ers, check out the cool rock climbing gyms in the area, many of which have outdoor climbing adventures! Search your local rock climbing gym and ask about outdoor climbing today. For us, the closest gym is Vertical Endeavors in Glendale Heights, IL, with climbing expeditions at multiple scenic locations including Minnesota and Devil's Lake, Wisconsin (which is a summer attraction unto itself!).

Kayak the Chicago River

The Chicago River Boat Architectural Tour is a classic hit for those who love history. However, the tours are way more adventurous while paddling through the river in a kayak with your friends! Paddle the day away, while enjoying the lovely views. We've found that there are plenty well-reviewed companies who offers these tours on TripAdvisor and GroupOn.

Explore Farms and Farmer's Markets

We're big fans of hitting up the local farmer's market... After hitting up your local Fruitful Yield, or course! But, farmer's markets are a great way to support local farmers and artists. Often, you find local craftsmen, jewelers, fruit and vegg, music, artisan cheeses, and local food trucks/vendor stalls. Plus, almost every Chicago suburb, or the town next-door, has one! Simply google your town and "farmer's market".

For a more immersive farm-to-table experience, you can also pay a visit to a local farm. One of our honey vendors, Heritage Prairie Farms, offers many fresh dining and healthy events at their farm in Elburn, Illinois. With seasonal selections, and health fairs, there's sure to be something to appeal to each health enthusiast.

My cousin has Autism, Intellectual Disability, Severe multiple food allergies (Anaphylactic), EGID's: Eosinophilic esophagitis, Eosinophilic gastritis, and Eosinophilic colitis- none of which to others is physically visible. She is super kind and sweet and is one of the most positive and brightest people you'd ever meet. She's also a elementary school aged student. She got to attend the Juice & Jam and got to see the Soul Vegan class without a family member or friend! I honestly think though she wanted to do that scavenger hunt too. She got a chance to try smoothie samples and of course the foods offered at the class.

We're so happy to have had her out at the event! She sounds like quite the young health enthusiast.
